The Mackinac Bands of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians (MBCOI) is a sovereign nation, recognized as an independent governing entity. In accordance with this sovereignty, all tribal matters will be addressed and resolved by the Judicial Court of the MBCOI.
The Judicial Court is dedicated to upholding justice, fairness, and the values of the Mackinac Bands. While maintaining the traditions and customs of the tribe, all applicable U.S. federal and State of Michigan laws will also be adhered to, ensuring a balanced and lawful approach to all cases.
All matters referred to the Judicial Court will be thoroughly reviewed, heard, and decided upon in a fair and impartial manner. The court serves as the cornerstone of justice for the Mackinac Bands, safeguarding the rights, traditions, and future of the MBCOI community.
