Dr. J. Scott Henning

Physician and Dermatologist

Dr. J. Scott Henning is a dedicated physician and dermatologist with a distinguished career in both military and civilian medicine. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dr. Henning served with honor in combat deployments to the Balkans and Iraq. During his military career, he held key leadership positions, including Chief of Dermatology at Brooke Army Medical Center and the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad.

Currently, Dr. Henning operates a thriving private dermatology practice in New Jersey, where he provides exceptional care to his patients. Living with his wife, Bahar, and their three school-age children, Dr. Henning embraces a family-oriented lifestyle. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys skiing, camping, fishing, and hiking. Additionally, he serves as Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America Troop 17, fostering leadership and outdoor skills in the next generation.

Dr. Henning’s connection to the Mackinac Bands of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians (MBCOI) is deeply personal and rooted in his family heritage. He belongs to the Crane doodem (clan), and his ties to the tribe are through his “Trucky’s” (grandparents). His mother, brother, and children are also proud members of the tribe. Dr. Henning is committed to preserving and advancing the heritage, culture, and wellbeing of the MBCOI community.
